Artsy: nine artists having a breakout moment this fall

Alina Cohen picks nine artists whose autumn is a turning point. Louis Fratino is showing alongside Matisse at the Baltimore Museum of Art ahead of his first solo at David Zwirner. Reggie Burrows Hodges has three institutional presentations in Los Angeles at once, including the Getty. Anina Major opens "The Sacred Mangrove" at the Pérez Art Museum Miami with sculpture that brings ceramics and basket weaving together. Roméo Mivekannin makes his US debut at Southern Guild with paintings that put Black figures into compositions borrowed from Winslow Homer and John Singer Sargent.

What I take from it. Every one of those careers has a museum in the story, and that's not a route I'm on. What I can do is what the list actually rewards: a body of work you can recognise across a room. Mine is black on white, made with the whole arm. If you're building a collection, buy the thing the artist can't stop making.
